Chevrolet El Camino

Designed for heavy hauling, the Chevrolet El Camino pickup was created as an off-road vehicle. It is built on a Chevelle station wagon/four-door sedan platform. The pickup bed is six feet long. The cargo bed has an 1150-pound payload rating.

El Camino pickups were built with a full-coil suspension and a Chevrolet Safety-Girder X-frame design. The interior was fitted with cloth and vinyl bench seats. Deep twist carpeting was available. In 1959, the El Camino was equipped with a 315 bhp triple-carb solid-lifter 348 V-8. Hot Rod magazine testers predicted a top speed of 130 mph and estimated a quarter-mile time of 14 seconds. It was also one of the first Chevy trucks with a steel-bed floor.

Ford Ranchero

During the late 1950s recession, Ford made a move to a smaller platform to improve fuel economy. One of the cars that came out of this transition was the Ranchero pickup. It was based on the intermediate and compact Fords. It was the first of its kind to have Long Distance Moving.

The Ranchero was a crossover between a station wagon and a truck. It was advertised as a fun vehicle and profitable vehicle. It offered power windows, steering, and brakes. It also had a six-foot pickup bed. It was sold in three trim levels. The highest-end model, the 500, was trimmed like a Fairlane.

The Ranchero has a clean, crisp interior. It rides like a car, and its engine is smooth. It can be ordered with bucket seats, AM/FM radio, and optional wheels.
