What to Do When Your Dishwasher Does Not Drain

A dishwasher is a machine used to automatically clean dishware, cookware, and cutlery. Easier than manual dishwashing. A dishwasher is a helpful aid in the kitchen for a busy life. It does most of the challenging job of scrubbing plates and other dirty dishes. Most of all, your dishes will be sanitized and sparkling clean. So when it causes problems, it will be chaotic after cooking and meal time. The dishwasher gives your hand a break, which is essential to a household daily.

Difference between dishwashers and hand washing:

Dishwasher detergent

The dishwasher has formulated detergent that will not bubble up everywhere on your kitchen floor, and it has properties that aid in effective cleaning. You don’t have to worry about the hassle of rinsing and sanitizing.

 Dish soap for hand-washing dishes

  • Some dish soap that we can buy from the store is too strong and harsh to our skin, so we need to wear gloves for protection.
  • It needs total scrubbing on dishes, pots and pans, cutleries, and others in order to make it clean.
  • You need to rinse them properly to remove the soap smell
  • You have to sanitize, especially baby bottles and others.

This is the reason why a dishwasher is a perfect gift for every household because of the effortlessness of the dishwashing nightmare.

Steps to consider before panicking when the dishwasher is not draining:

 1.  Run your garbage disposal, it might just clog leftover food or peels.

2. Check for blockage, open your dishwasher and pull out the bottom rack to check the drain where the water flows.

3. When you load your dishwasher, make sure you put it by the book, so the water circulates properly and tiny food particles will just go down the drain.

4. Always check your filter; in some instances might be the cause of the dishwasher not working. It needs to be clean too; you may have clogged the filter that is preventing water from draining as it should be.

5. Finally, the drain hose. Take consideration of the hose as your throat chocking with chunk of food and not going down, it is not a good sign. So do not stuff the hose with food particles from the dishes before running the dishwasher.

6. Pay attention to your machine when you turn it on, the sound matters, it is an indication of a problem.

7. You can also try soaking with vinegar and baking soda; it will help with the calcium build up and the blockage everywhere in the dishwasher’s hoses, vent and drain.

8. If all of these do not work, well the plumber is waiting for a call.

Sometimes we overlook and forget to check some important features that need analysis, like?

  • Plastic coating on the lines of the rack
  • Gaskets worn or torn?
  • Are the hinges, handles, knobs, buttons, screws and other stuff to make sure it is all in good shape
  • Is the machine noisy or too quiet or has a whirr sound?
  • Check the scrap tray if it is in place and clean.
  • Make sure the temperature is what you set it at
  • The leak is very important not to be noticed.

Reminder:

Always empty your dishwasher when you run to check the condition of the machine. It is to be expected accurately when you hear the blubber thud. If it is gurgling and leaking out from the door, time to stop the dishwasher and open for possible answer to your question, why is the dishwasher not draining?

Despite this experimental check up, it is still best to call for help from the expert to get the job done and fix the problem in no time. Plumber knows best, especially if the stingy smell is still lingering inside the dishwasher and the puddle drain.

Well, if all the tips and help still do not work at all, the dishwasher probably has a problem with the motherboard or timer. You might want to consider calling the factory or have it replaced if it is under warranty or else it is time to buy a new one.
