1.     Dishwashing Liquid and Hot Water

  • Turn on the tap and start filling the water.

  • Now add a few drops of dishwashing liquid to the water.
  •  Let this mixture rest in the sink for 10 minutes.
  • After that pull out the stopper and let this soap and liquid mixture drain down the sink.
  • Dish wash liquid contains cleaning agents that will help to remove the grease or food residue inside the drain.

2.     Ice cube, Coarse Salt and Lemon Peels

Perform the following steps to do this method.

  • Remove the drain top cover first.
  • Now put down some ice cubes inside the drain. The ice cubes will melt slowly and take away the food particles in the drain causing the bad smell.
  • After that, put some coarse salt inside the drain. The salt will scrub away all the grease or oil on the sides of the pipe.
  • In the end, throw some fresh lemon peels inside to get a refreshing smell and get rid of the bad odour.

3.     Boiling Water

This method may seem simple but it helps a lot in the clearing of all the grease, food or anything causing smell or blockage inside the drainage pipe. Perform the following steps for this method.

  • Take a pot and fill it with water.
  •  Put this pot on the stove and let it boil on medium flame.
  • Let the water boil till it reaches its boiling point.
  • Turn off the flame and let the pot remain on the stove for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now handle the pot carefully as it is hot and so is the water in it.
  • Pour down water inside the sink.
  • After some time, turn on the tap and let water run for some time.
  • If the water is draining normally then it means the sink pipe is now clear.
  • Turn off the tap and smell again. Hopefully, there will be no smell left.

4.     Baking Soda, Essential Oil, and Boiling Water

This method can work wonders to get rid of the foul smell. Baking soda is a simple element that can be easily found in every kitchen. It has cleaning properties that help to get rid of greasy surfaces and to get rid of bad smells in the refrigerator or drain pipes etc. You can perform the following steps to do this method.

  • First, take a pot and fill it with water.
  • Put the pot on the stove and let it boil.
  • Boil the water till it reaches the boiling point.
  • Turn off the flame and let the water rest for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now take the pot and start pouring down the boiled water inside the kitchen sink drain.
  • After that take half a cup of baking soda and pour it down in the sink.
  •  You will hear frizz sounds coming out of the sink. This happens because the soda has started working on the grease and gunk inside the drain.
  • After the frizz sounds are over, pour down some drops of any essential oil in the sink drain.
  • The sink will start smelling great and the grease and gunk will also be removed with the help of this method.

5.     Vinegar and Baking Soda with Lemon Juice

Lemon has a naturally occurring agent that can fight grease easily. Therefore this method will not only remove the bad smell but also help in drain cleaning. Perform the following steps for this method.

  • Take 1 cup of vinegar and pour it down the kitchen sink.
  • Pour down half a cup of baking soda into the drain after the vinegar.
  • Let this mixture rest inside the drain for a few hours. Ideally overnight.
  •  The next morning, run water in the sink for 3-5 minutes.
  • Turn off the water tap and smell the sink.
  • Now take 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.
  • Pour the lemon juice in the kitchen sink.
  • After some time, smell the drain again.
  • The kitchen sink will be odour free and clean just as good as new.
