The agreement with the Roof contractor

Get a written contract

Make Roof sure all the contractor’s agreements and promises are put in writing. Having that information in writing is a way to protect yourself and take care of your investment. It lets you know what the contractor plans to do with your home and how much the contractor will charge to do the work, as well as giving you a written guarantee on labor. It is important that you keep this document and any other information the contractor gives you. When you review the agreement with the Roofers contractor, be sure to address a few important points below so that you are both satisfied. Contractors are not authorized agents of IKO.

Information that must appear in the agreement with the contractor.

  • A detailed warranty from the contractor on labor, including what the finished job will look like, how long the warranty lasts, and how problems will be handled.
  • The brand name and an accurate description of the shingles and other roof products to be installed.
  • Full compliance with the manufacturer’s recommended installation method.
  • The person responsible for obtaining the necessary permits.
  • The times to start and complete the work.
  • The number of squares to apply.
  • How your home will be protected from the elements during installation.
  • The cleanliness and appearance of the workplace.
  • Property damage caused by the contractor and his workers.
  • The price.
  • How “order changes” will be treated and how the corresponding price will be established.
  • The terms and conditions of payment.
  • Anything that is discussed orally about the job should be included in a written contract.
