TFT, the chess car that revolutionises LOL

After the success of Battle Royale, auto chess seems to be the new trend. Riot Games has decided to ride his wave with the launch of the new game mode.

Auto chess, auto battle… It doesn’t matter what we call it, but the truth is that from now on, we will hear its name very often. After the publication of Dota Auto Chess, Riot Games did not want to be less and rushed to develop its own version of this brand new game mode: its name is Master Tactics , Teamfight Tactics  (TFT) in English.

The style of play consists of having a series of characters on a board similar to that of chess, so that they attack those who are closest to them autonomously, without you being able to influence anything beyond their position in field. The first to kill all the enemy monsters wins.

Each character available to players has a different race or origin, as well as a class or occupation . Placing several that share one of these two variables will, in turn, make them see reinforced in characteristics: they can increase their health, strength, speed or defense points. In fact, the synergy in the cast of characters will be the key to winning or losing the game.

In fact, if we accumulate three copies of the same character, they will level up . Three same level 1 characters will become a level 2, while three same level 2 characters will become a level 3, the maximum possible.

Modo League of Legends

Although it hasn’t been added to the game mode yet, as it ‘s still in beta , it shouldn’t end there. All characters will have, as in normal LOL mode, a special ability, which they can use when the mana bar reaches its maximum. Mana slowly goes up at the end of each turn.

The character’s attacks vary depending on their nature . Some can attack in range, another in melee , or in a group… Therefore, it is essential to know where to place them. The shooters usually go to the rear, sheltered by the more tanks.

We have already explained everything about the characters, but not how to acquire them. Well, at the beginning of each round, in what is known as the collective recruitment phase, the 8 members of the room will have to choose the first member of their squad : they will appear in a kind of circle.

To select them, we simply have to place them next to them and drag them. You’ll have to be quick so they don’t steal the one you wanted. Of course, once the first round has passed, they will be the ones with the least life, the first to choose champions .

There are different phases during the game : the aforementioned recruitment phase, PVE ( Player Versus Environment , that is, playing against the machine) and PVP ( Player Versus Player , that is, against other players).

As we advance, we will level up. This will be the one that allows us to have more or less champions on the field .

How do you get more?

In a very simple way. Each enemy that we defeat will bring us money that we can invest in the store, either by changing the stock of characters that we can buy or by acquiring them directly. Although you can only position 5 champions, on the bench we can have even more.

The money can also be used to gain experience and thus be able to put more characters on the field. In addition, there will also be objects with which we can equip them, so that we can upload some specific characteristics to enhance them.

If the battle phase is PvE and we win the fight, they will simply give us experience and we will advance to the next round. If, on the other hand, it is PVP, we will directly damage the enemy , who, like us, is represented by a small circle called Little Legend.

 The higher the level of the champions on the field, the more damage we will deal.

According to Volty, one of the main designers of the game mode -and who does not shy away from Dota influences-, the keys to victory lie in:

“The knowledge of the characters, the flexibility to adapt to opportunities, fortune , the perception of the enemy and the speed of action.”

The winner of the game will be the last one standing, the one who has managed to withstand the attacks of the rivals and overcome all the rounds satisfactorily. The only problems that have been seen so far are that it usually has a longer waiting time than normal and that, at the moment, there are only 50 champions available out of the 145 that are in normal mode, although they have already confirmed that they will add a pair on every update.
