Tape in Hair Extensions: Why It Works for Everyone

by admin

There is a lot of misinformation about hair extensions. Some people think that they are expensive, damaging, and only for celebrities. But that’s not true! Tape-in hair extensions are my favorite brand because they’re easy to use and last a long time. Here are ten leading brands, plus some inspiration from Instagram.

Tape-In Hair Extensions Don’t Look Fake

tape extensions: the real hair extensions

Tape-in extensions can give you the illusion of thicker, longer hair. I’ve worn extensions for years and have friends and coworkers who don’t believe me when I say that they look natural. The bonds lie flat against the scalp and are very comfortable. I often forget about them until I catch a glimpse of my long ponytail in the mirror (yup, it even looks good). Matching hair density, texture, thickness, and color are critical to pulling off a seamless look. When shopping for new wholesale hair extensions, look for 100 percent human or Remy strands—hair cuticle facing in same direction as your natural hair. What this means to you is that you can style, dry and iron on your own without fear of tangles or matting. My favorite brand is Invisi-tab Halo Couture Hair Extensions.

Putting Them in and Out Isn’t Too Time-Consuming

Truly, it takes about an hour and a half to do each head of hair. The extension is bonded to inch-long super sticky strips that are peeled off like stickers. Your stylist places small sections of natural hair between two of these strips. As for removal, that’s even faster—the stylist drenches the tape bonds in a solute that loosens the adhesive and wiggles them off gently. Then all you need is a couple of shampoos to remove all of it. As your hair grows out further from the roots, the bond inches farther away from your root and farther away from your root means more likely it will twist or tangle on itself—and possibly reveal your secret was well kept after all.

Tape in Hair Extensions Are Easy to Care

I have a few tips for you about my extension experience. First, I wash, blow-dry, flatiron, curl, scrunch, and braid my extensions just as I would my own natural hair. The adhesive bonds are most fragile when wet so I like to blast my roots and bonds with a blow-dryer before gently combing through to detangle. This helps prevent any tangling on the wet bonds and it also results in the world’s easiest waves!

They Don’t Cause Damage

Tape in human hair extensions is safe to use. In my experience, they do not damage your natural hair. If they are applied correctly and treated with care, tape-in extensions pose no threat to the overall health of your natural hair. I actually turned to tape-in extensions after experiencing post-coloring damage. I had been trying to grow my hair out for almost two years before I decided to speed up the process a bit and apply for tape-in extensions myself. Now my natural hair looks and feels as healthy as it did pre-coloring damage.”
