How to Draw a Bull Skull. Skulls often have a rather dark connotation, representing death and fate by their very nature. Despite this, they can even be utilized in numerous fabulous designs, as each type of skull has a unique and beautiful design. Bull skulls are a prime example of this, which is why they are often incorporated into impressive designs. Learning to draw a bull skull is a great way to create some of these designs yourself!

Drawing a Bull Skull

Step 1:

To start this guide on how to draw a bull skull, we’ll start with what is probably the most recognizable part of the skull: the horns! First, use curved lines to create the top of the skull and its top corners. Then use jagged connector lines to make the thick lugs curve as they appear in our reference image. Once you’ve drawn all these skins, you’re ready for step 2 of the guide!

Step 2:

Now that you have the top part of your bull skull drawing, we can start focusing on the bottom half in this second step. The lower half of the skull starts below the high cheekbones and then tapers down. Instead of one continuous line, it will consist of several connected lines, as shown in our example. It will take care of the outline, and we can focus on some internal details for the next steps.

Step 3:

For this third phase of our direction on drawing a bull skull, we will focus on the eye and nasal sockets of the skull. Use irregular black shapes on either side of the face for the eyes. Please do your best to make them as symmetrical as possible and place them where we did in our example. Then use thinner black shapes for the nasal cavities. Once they’ve been drawn, we’ll add some curved line details down the center of the skull, and then we can move on to the next part.

Step 4:

Our willpower holds things easy for this stage of your bullhead picture. For now, we’ll focus on the horns of the skull. To do this, draw curved lines extending from the outer sides of the contours of the horn. It will help provide textural detail for the woods and give them that rough, bumpy look that natural woods have. When you’ve added those details, we can add the finishing touches in the next step, so let’s move on!

Step 5:

This part of our guide on drawing a bull skull will be about adding a few final details to finish it off nicely. We’ll add lots of line detail to the drawing, but try not to be too intimidated because it’s not as hard as it looks! The most important thing to remember is that the skull should look symmetrical. With that in mind, refer closely to the reference image and try to create the first half of these details.

Then it will be easier for you since you can replicate what you did on the other side. Once you’ve finished decorating the skull, you can add a few touches and details of your own! Step 6:

For this last step of your bull skull drawing, we’ll finish it off with some color. Skulls are usually relatively light in color and opaque, which is the approach we used in our example image. We incorporated a few shades of brown for the bull’s horns, using light browns and beige colors to finish the skull. You can utilize a comparable color palette for a more realistic look, but there are plenty of ways to finish this design too!

You can create a wonderfully stylistic image by incorporating more vibrant colors. The art mediums you choose can also significantly impact the appearance of colors. Mediums like watercolors and shaded pencils would be great for some lighter colors, while some color markers and acrylics would be great for more vibrant shades.
