Tools And Materials Required For The Cleaning Process

Before starting the cleaning of the vinyl floor, you must have all the tools and materials that you will need during the cleaning process. Here are some common tools and materials you should have on hand for stain cleaning as well as regular cleaning of vinyl sheet flooring.

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Broom
  • Clean microfiber mop
  • bucket
  • Warm water
  • Mild detergent (Or any homemade cleaner)

1. Regular Cleaning

Let’s first start with the regular cleaning of the vinyl flooring. Regular cleaning is very necessary for the maintenance of the flooring. Cleaning with a broom or vacuum is almost required every day, and you can mop the floor once a week. For the regular cleaning of the floor, follow the following steps.

  • Use a vacuum cleaner or broom to remove all the dirt and dust from the surface of the vinyl floor. The vacuum cleaner is more effective for this process.
  • After cleaning the dust from the floor, mop the floor once or twice a week according to the requirements of your floor.
  • Make a mixture of mild detergent and water in a bucket and then mop the floor using this solution. It will clean all the hidden stains on the floor and give the floor a new shine.

Note: Harsh detergents containing ammonia can easily damage the vinyl floors. That’s the reason you must be careful while buying cleaning products for the cleaning of vinyl floors.

2. Tough Stain Cleaning

For the cleaning of the tough stains on the vinyl flooring, mostly homemade cleaners are used because strong detergents and cleaners have chemicals that can damage the wear layer of the vinyl flooring and make it less durable.

There are basically baking soda solutions, vinegar solutions, and rubbing alcohol solutions that are used as homemade cleaners for the cleaning of tough stains. Making these solutions at home is very easy. You just need to be careful about the quantity of all the things in the solution.

Vinegar Solution

For the making of the vinegar solution, you will need the following materials:

  • 1 cup of Warm water
  • ¼ cup of distilled White vinegar
  • 1 tbsp of Lemon juice
  • 5 drops of essential oils

Mix all the ingredients very well. Apply the solution to the mop and then clean vinyl floor stain with it.

Baking Powder Solution

If you don’t want to use vinegar on your floor because of its typical smell, then you can prepare a solution of baking soda. For preparing this mixture, use the following ingredients:

  • 4 tbsp of baking powder
  • 2 tbsp of warm water
  • 3 to 4 drops of lemon juice

Mix all of them well, leaving no lumps, and prepare a paste. Apply and leave this baking powder paste on the stain for 2 to 3 hours, and then clean it with the mop. You can also mix the baking powder in the water bucket while mopping the floor. It will remove the smell from the floor.

Rubbing Alcohol Solution

Lipstick, grease, and ink stains from the vinyl flooring can easily be removed by using rubbing alcohol. You can directly apply the rubbing alcohol to the mop to clean the stain. Or you can also mix it with water to dilute the alcohol.

Rubbing alcohol is not only used to clean stains from the PVC vinyl floors, but a mixture of rubbing alcohol and vinegar is also very effective for disinfecting the floor and keeping it free from bacteria and viruses for a long time (about 24 hours).

Conclusion

Cleaning vinyl flooring is a simple task. You can easily clean vinyl floor by using mild detergents or homemade cleaners. Be careful when using ready-made cleaners on this flooring because it can easily be damaged by harsh chemicals. Always read the description of the cleaners before buying them.
