Some customers are curious about how to care for their 4C hair extensions. We can tell you that it is not much different from caring for your own 4C hair! Not all 4C curls are the same. Sometimes the hair strands are barely noticeable & are curled in very tight patterns. 4c hair comes in different densities and porosity levels as compared to the other hair type. However, it is prone to a fair amount of shrinkage. It can shrink up to 75%. It is vulnerable to tangling and matting, if not properly taken care of. This can be very delicate and could be broken easily.

NEED A GOOD MOISTURE

NEED A GOOD MOISTURE FOR CURLY HAIR

4c hair doesn’t retain moisture as well as other strands. It’s the tight kinks in 4c hair that prevent the flow of sebum through the hair. You need a good moisturizer, one that caters specifically to kinky hair. You need a moisturizer that’s specifically for kinky hair—these moisturizers are often thicker than regular ones. Once your hair is properly moisturized, you need to seal in the moisture with a good sealant like coconut oil or shea butter. Even when you wear protective styles, you still need to moisturize regularly.

REGULARLY DETANGLE 4C HAIR TYPE

REGULARLY DETANGLE 4C HAIR TYPE – INDIQUE HAIR

4c hair needs to be detangled regularly. It has a tight curl pattern and this causes it to tangle much quicker than other textures. Your hair can be matted and break if you don’t take them seriously. Detangling 4c hair is a gentle process. It’s best to use your fingers and run them softly through damp hair. To get help in this, you can use a conditioner with lots of slip. When you bump into knots, don’t yank at your hair. Use your fingers to gently pull out the strands from the knot using a movement similar to finger-detangling. When you are done finger-detangling, run a wide-tooth comb through your hair once more for extra smoothness.

REQUIRES DEEP CONDITION

IT REQUIRES DEEP CONDITION

4c hair loves to be conditioned! We advise you to deep condition your hair every week and do a hot oil treatment right after to seal in the moisture. Use castor oil for hot oil treatment. Just heat the oil in the microwave, but make sure it is at a decent temperature before pouring it over your head, and keep an eye on it so that it doesn’t burn your scalp or hair. Put a shower cap and towel over your head, and let it sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing out.

KNOW YOUR HAIR PRODUCTS

know your hair product

When looking for hair products for 4c natural hair styles, it’s important to understand your hair porosity. You can simply avoid shampoos that are with sulfates and also the conditioners that contain silicones and parabens. Also, steer clear of gels with alcohol and leave-in conditioners with mineral oils. Depending on your hair type, it may be best to choose products with natural ingredients. For example, try shea butter, rose water, and chebe powder to add moisture to your 4c hair or use castor oil and coconut oil for hydration.
