How powerful is the Snapmaker Rotary Module

The Snapmaker 2.0 Rotary Module gives your Snapmaker a fourth axis, transforming it into a powerful desktop CNC machining workhorse and doing a lot more. A fearsome orc chiefdom with legendary weapons, a brave dwarf king with wavy beards, or a hollow candle holder can all be created with the Snapmaker rotary module. Thinking of laser engraving? That’s no problem for the rotary module to handle as well.

The rotary module is exceptional at creating these three-dimensional works of art. The rotary module can achieve a level of detail and craftsmanship that no other 3D printing technology can because it does not require under extrusion, layer shifting, stringing, or supports of FDM or SLA. The rotary module has a 100:1 speed reducer and strain wave gearing to convert the power to a lower output speed. As a result, the 3-jaw chuck can rotate at an angle as small as 0.1°. You can now make on crooked and uneven surfaces without skipping a beat.

One of the fastest sculptors is the Snapmaker 2.0 rotary module because it can rotate continuously in a 360° circle at an angular speed of up to 45° per second. You can actually see the difference in each movement thanks to the touchscreen’s precise control, which ranges from 0.2, 1, and 5 degree rotations.

Thinking of an easy and free CAD and CAM software for your 4-axis project? Then the Snapmaker Luban is your go-to software and the best part is that is in-housed developed by Snapmaker so that it can easily be used with your Snapmaker 3D printer. You can easily import STL files and carve hollow objects with distinctly shaped outer shells using Snapmaker Luban. For complete control, advanced 4-axis linkage support that enables simultaneous movement of the X, Y, Z, and B axes has also been added.

The new touchscreen that comes with your Snapmaker 3D printer has a feature called Origin Assistant that makes using rotary carving easier. It is simple to preset CNC bits, set origins and Z-offsets, and install materials. For a simpler process, you can also select Assist Mode, while Manual Mode offers more control options.

The 3-jaw chuck, tailstock, and base plate make up the Snapmaker rotary module. With the tailstock in place, the 3-jaw chuck can hold objects up to 170 length by 68 radius (mm) and without the tailstock, 225 length by 68 radius (mm). A compatible chuck from the market may also be used. The tailstock center firmly secures objects. To allow for the installation of the headstock and tailstock at various locations, the base plate is equipped with holes on both sides.

It is well known that rotary carving requires some learning and is not as user-friendly for beginners. Because of this, we went above and beyond to make the switch from 3-axis to 4-axis machining as seamless as possible.

The same design cues from the Snapmaker 2.0 are present in the Snapmaker 2.0 Rotary Module. It has a classy appearance and feel thanks to the metallic grey finish. Aluminum of aero-grade is fully anodized, which accounts for its sturdiness.

When the rotary module is combined with the Snapmaker 2.0 Emergency Stop button it’s easier to stop rotary carving when something goes wrong by pressing the emergency button. A further measure of security is offered by the Snapmaker 2.0 Emergency Stop Button for 3D printing, laser engraving, and CNC carving. All you have to do to stop your operation is press the stop button. Installing the Snapmaker 2.0 Emergency Stop Button virtually anywhere gives you easy access to the stop button when you need it most Read more
