High School Options for Your Teenager 

The teenage years are some of the most difficult for human beings. Your body is growing and changing like it never has and never will again. Distractions become ten times more powerful and sitting down and concentrating on math problems is the last thing on your mind. The challenge every parent faces is getting their teenager to do their home work and also live a happy life. 

Public School

Public schools can be nice if the scenario is right. If at least one parent has the time to sit down every night and go over home work with the student, if the school is nearby and not a grueling distance away, and if the teachers are engaged and have not checked out, then public school can be a good experience.

The problem with public school is that the above mentioned qualities are all rarely present. Many public high schools leave something left to be desired. 

Charter School

These schools are a great option for those who have access to them. They usually have teachers who are committed to their jobs. They usually have a student body who want to be there. Environment is everything. When the environment is good then the outcome is usually good. 

Charter schools are not very common unfortunately. For example, there are only seven charter schools in the entire state of Virginia. 

Boarding School

These schools almost guarantee good grades and college acceptance. Plus, they vary greatly in theme and allow parents many options. For instance, you can choose a military school in Virginia if your teenager needs some help in the discipline area of their personality. 

The big drawback for boarding schools is that they are expensive. There is no exception. It costs a pretty penny to house, clothe and feed a teenager. Plus you are paying for all of the privately hired teachers and tutors. 

Choosing the right high school for your teenager can be a challenge. Having the means and time to get them to the desired school present a challenge of their own.
