Full Stack Development and Its Role in Web Development

by Uneeb Khan

Many companies and organizations opt to hire full stack developers in order to meet their business objectives, instead of hiring two separate developers for the front-end and back-end (aka single-stack development). However, there are some cases where single-stack development may be more beneficial than full stack development. When should you choose one over the other? Let’s take a look at the difference between these two types of development, as well as when and why you might want to consider each option.

What is full stack development?

Full stack development is the process of developing a website or application that includes both front-end (client-side) and back-end (server-side) web development. It is typically used to create web applications, but can also be used for other types of websites. Full stack developers have skills in both the front end, which includes HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery and AngularJS; as well as the back end languages like PHP or Ruby on Rails.

What skills do you need to become a full stack developer?

As a full stack developer, you’ll need to be proficient in a variety of skills. You’ll need to be able to write code for the front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) as well as the back-end (PHP, Ruby on Rails). You’ll also need to know how databases work and how they can be used with web applications. With this knowledge, you’ll be able to implement strategies like data partitioning or sharding that help scale your application and make it more performant. And since scalability is one of the most important aspects of modern software engineering, it’s worth mastering these skills if you want to become a full stack developer.

What are the pros and cons of full stack development?

The pros of full stack development are that it gives developers the ability to work on both front end and back end. It also allows for quicker iterations because you’re able to update a page from code. However, there are cons as well. It can be difficult for someone who isn’t a developer to understand what’s happening with the code if they need to make changes, which could lead them to hire someone else for help.

Does your current job have any full stack positions available?

We currently don’t have any full stack developer positions available. If you’re interested, please send your resume to HR for future consideration. Thank you for contacting us! As a company who values its employees, we try to provide an environment where they can grow and develop professionally while balancing the need for a life outside of work. As such, we do not offer the option of working full time hours on both front-end development (HTML, CSS) as well as back-end development (PHP). However, if you are looking for a part time position or contract position that offers this ability – we might be able to work something out with you!

How can I prepare myself for my future as a full stack developer?

It’s important to know the distinction between the two roles. Hire full stack developers or outsource? These are two questions you’ll need to ask yourself when thinking about the future of your company.
