If you’re one of the many Mercari users who have been hoping to sell internationally, then we have great news! Mircari has announced that they are now shipping internationally to over 190 countries! Although this change wasn’t officially made until the end of 2016, they’ve been gradually rolling it out since September 2016 and began selling internationally on April 18, 2017.

If you haven’t already started selling internationally with Mercari, be sure to read all about their new international shipping policy so that you can make the most of this opportunity!

Introduction: What is Mercari?

Mercari is an online app that connects buyers and sellers of used goods, who can trade items with just a few taps in a safe environment using Mercari’s escrow service to transact for free. Sellers can earn up to 65% selling their items; buyers get access to affordable prices without leaving their home or office.

As of yesterday, sellers from around the world can now sell goods on Mercari too ̶ giving them access to a global audience of potential customers ̶ as long as they are willing to ship internationally.

What countries does Mercari ship to?

It’s been a long time coming but Mercari is finally expanding its international shipping options! Starting May 2018, buyers from Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Singapore will be able to shop Mercari with no additional fees–yay! Check out the list below to see if your country is included in this update:

Canada New Zealand Australia Singapore

How much does international shipping cost?

International shipping rates start at $10 for one item to $25 for three items; if you purchase more than three items then your cost will be based on a flat rate of $35 per shipment. For example, if you order five items then your cost would be $35 + ($10*5). If you purchase 12 items then your total cost would be $35 + ($10*12) + ($25*3). You can also choose to ship with UPS or FedEx, where costs are higher but delivery is faster. International shipments are not available for customers in Canada or Mexico.

What items are restricted from being shipped internationally?

The following items are restricted from being shipped internationally: Products containing alcohol (including perfume); Marijuana-related products; Weapons and ammunition; Counterfeit goods; Hazardous materials (including cosmetics); Items that infringe upon intellectual property rights of others or that violate any law; Any product not sold by Mercari.

How long does it take for an item to arrive once it has been shipped?

It takes an average of 3-5 days for your items to arrive once they’ve been shipped internationally. The time can vary depending on a number of factors; for instance, whether or not the order is going to a US military installation in Japan will cause some variation in transit time.

As long as your package is labeled International Mail then customs should release it for delivery to your address in about 5-7 business days from date of shipment– this does not include weekends or other holidays.

What is Mercari’s return policy for international orders?

Mercari is now accepting returns for orders from around the globe! However, there are a few minor changes to their return policies for international orders. Here’s what you need to know:

– Return shipping costs will be the responsibility of the buyer or seller (depending on who initiated the return). This can change depending on Mercari’s discretion depending on which country your order is being shipped from and to.

– Seller protection covers up to $500 per transaction with a maximum of $2,500 per month. Sellers are only eligible for seller protection if they sell more than 10 items in an average of 7 days each week.

Conclusion

Mercari has announced a major change to their shipping policies that will allow for international shipments for customers who live in select countries. This is a game changer for many of us who have been waiting anxiously to purchase from our favorite fashion brands overseas but were unable to do so because Mercari only accepted domestic orders at the time.

The decision was made after Mercari received customer feedback requesting they expand their reach to other countries – a logical step as they continue to grow as an e-commerce platform. International orders are currently available in select countries: Canada, United States (excluding Alaska), United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Japan.
