Browse The List of Best Mileage Bikes in India

India imports a large chunk of its crude oil reserves from other nations. This is the reason why, since time immemorial, the prices of fuels like petrol have been steep. The situation is dire presently as one has to pay more than INR 100 for a litre of petrol. Hence, it is no surprise that people prefer to buy fuel-efficient bikes.

In this context, here is a short list of the top three fuel-efficient bikes currently available in India.

Bajaj CT 110

The Bajaj CT 110 has to be mentioned at the beginning since it is a top-selling fuel-efficient motorcycle. The real-world mileage of the bike is 70 KMPL. Furthermore, despite the recent string of price hikes, the bike is still reasonably priced. The entry-level variant of the motorcycle is available at INR. 75,275*. The top-spec trim is available at INR. 80,616*. Both prices are ex-showroom hence the on-road prices will differ.

Powering the motorcycle is a 115.45 CC, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder, BS6-compliant motor. Bajaj carefully tuned to peak power and torque mappings of the engine to 8.48 bhp and 9.81 Nm respectively.

The bike is offered with drum brakes. To enhance the safety of the motorcycle, Bajaj offers it with its patented Combined Braking System (CBS) technology. The bike has a dry weight of 127 KGs. The fuel tank has a total capacity of 11 litres.

Bajaj Dominar 250

The Dominar 250 is reasonably priced at INR. 2, 10,389*. At this price, one will be getting their hands on a 250 CC bike that entails a mileage of 33 KMPL!

Bajaj offers the bike in a single trim and three colour schemes. It is a touring motorcycle that has all the best bits of the Dominar 400. The bike has all-LED lighting as well as a fully digital instrument cluster. The exhaust manifold has twin exhaust barrel tips. The mirror stalks on the bike’s handlebar are sturdy and premium-looking. The bike has a USD (upside-down) telescopic fork suspension unit for the front wheel. The rear wheel is paired with a preload adjustable mono-shock suspension. Bajaj has equipped the bike with split seats, dual disc brakes and dual-channel ABS.

The 250 CC engine is a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, BS6-compliant unit. It has been paired with a DOHC (Direct Overhead Camshaft) which controls 4 valves. Bajaj has also equipped the engine with two spark plugs that help the engine to burn fuel more efficiently. The extra spark plug also increases the power generated by the piston during its power stroke.

The peak power and torque mappings for the engine are set at 26.6bhp and 23.5Nm. The engine is paired with a sleek-shifting six-speed transmission which gets support from a slipper clutch. The basic function of a slipper clutch is to allow the rider to engage low gear at high speeds. Engaging a lower gear when a bike is moving at high speeds can lock the rear wheel. The slipper clutch basically prevents this from happening.

Bajaj Pulsar 125

The Pulsar range is the best-selling range of motorcycles from Bajaj Auto. Hence, it is no news that the Pulsar 125 will be on this list. This bike is meant for those who wish to own an affordable version of the brand.

This is an entry-level sports commuter bike. It is powered by a 125 CC engine. It is one of the best mileage bikes in India in the 125 CC segment. The real-world mileage of the motorcycle is 50 KMs on a litre of petrol!

Bajaj made sure that this sports commuter bike is offered at an aggressive price. This is the reason why the base price for the bike is INR. 99,582*. The top-spec variant costs INR. 1, 10,236*. It is to be noted that both prices are ex-showroom.

The 124.4 CC engine is a single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected and BS6-compliant unit. It has been paired with Bajaj’s DTSI technology. The peak power and torque mappings for the engine stand at 11.64 bhp and 10.8 Nm respectively.

The bike is offered with a five-speed transmission that is tuned to deliver power to the rear wheel linearly. The mid and top-range torque from the motor is adequate for city and rural commutes.
