BENEFITS OF WEARING RUDRAKSHA MALA

Rudraksha means

Rudra is the name of Shiva and Aksha or Aksha means tears. So Rudraksha means tears of Shiva. Shiva is one of the trideva or Trimurti (3 main gods) who are: Brahma the “creator”, Vishnu the “preserver” and Shiva the “destroyer”. This question always comes to practitioners of yoga and meditation, why Rudraksha is called “Tears of Shiva”? Sati, who is also called “Dakshayani – daughter of Daksha”, is generally considered to be the first wife of Shiva, who was also Parvati and was Sati’s reincarnation after her death.

When Daksha’s father humiliated Sati in front of all the guests during the fire ceremony, saying that Shiva was disgusting. Feeling very disrespected, Sati jumped into the Agni Kunda (fire pit). When Shiva knows this is happening, he gets angry with Daksha and pulls out a lock of hair and strokes it on the ground from this stroke 2 deities called Virbhadra and Bhadrakali were born. Shiva ordered them to destroy the yajna (fire ceremony) of Daksha and kill him immediately.

After the death of Sati, Shiva held the corpse of Sati in his hands and walked toward Kailash (the mountain where Shiva lived). The parts of the body that fell on earth became “Shaktipeeth” such as Kunjapuri Temple, Surkanda Temple, and Chandrabadni Temple. After the death of Sati, Shiva was so sad and meditated for many years, when he opened his eyes, tears began to fall as deep sorrow or attachment for many years. Thus the Rudraksha tree was born.

HOW TO START WEARING RUDRAKSHA?

In Vedic culture, Benefits of Wearing Rudraksha Mala was gifted to a disciple for starting a new life and he took the mala as a tribute or remembrance of the Guru. So, if any guru gives you a mala, never deny it, accept it and start wearing it. Shiva’s day “Monday” is the best day to start wearing mala. Before wearing the mala, I recommend keeping this mala in a holy place or burning incense there.

If you ever eat meat, it is recommended to keep the mala in your bag and wear it again after bathing the next day. If you are menstruating, you can also keep the Rudraksha in the bag and wear it again after your period.

WHAT IF YOU LOSE SOME RUDRAKSHA BEADS?

If you have unknowingly lost some Rudraksha beads, you could open the string and add some beads to it. If you wear cracked Rudraksha beads, it is not good because the energy in the cracked mala will not work as before.

The Rudraksha should touch the body and the beads should also touch each other. Rudraksha should be washed only with water rather than any soap etc. Shiva always loves nature more than material things, therefore offering only water to the Shiva temple is enough to continue devotion on the spiritual path.
