Perfect packaging

Before we discuss the performance of ATH – GDL3, I want briefly to mention the packaging. The box looks amazing thanks to Japanese-inspired art on the front and back. Also, all packaging other than a pair plastic cord bags has been made of cardboard. Audio-Technica really outdid themselves in sustainability packaging. But, this box is beautiful and I won’t be throwing it away.

Simple and easy to use

The box’s artwork does not appear on the wirless headphones but they look great. The “white” option was the version we were sent. It is simple and comes in three colors: Silver, Black, and White. These look great in a desk setup or on a PC. They also go well with the PlayStation 5

The white areas of headphones are made of plastic. While the black on headbands is silicone-like, the silver feels more like aluminum. The headphones also have a black grille on the backs. The included 3.5mm cable for headphone jacks feels perfect at 1.2 meters (4 feet). It is not too long nor short and feels good quality. Audio-Technica also includes the 3-meter cable (just short of 10 feet), for PCs that use a dual split 3.5mm 3.5mm design.

Comfortable and well-designed

The ATH – GDL3 is lightweight and very comfortable. I have no complaints about the headphones’ lightness. The padding is very good and the headband feels comfortable on my head.

Audio-Technica made the earcups out of a material that I didn’t like. It had an impact upon how long they could be worn comfortably.

I prefer leather-like cups for earphones, as they are cooler on my head and neck than fabric cups. Audio-Technica chose a cloth earcup. It meant that after a while the ATH-GDL3 started feeling warm on my scalp despite the open-back design. These cans were comfortable to wear for three hours.

Although this may not be the case for everyone, I do know that it is something that many people prefer. Audio-Technica doesn’t have a replacement cup in the box, and it’s not easy to find out how to swap them out for a different material. It’s something you should keep in mind.

A great audio experience for both of you

Open-back headphones usually trade a deep and resonant bass in exchange for a large soundstage, clarity, and soundstage. These headphones are able to reproduce every note in music, as well as every detail in a videogame world, with remarkable clarity. How long can they last?

Audio-Technica offers a limited warranty of two years. However, it is not possible for the ATH-GDL to break. The odds of the ATH-GDL working for 10 years are very good thanks to their simple design and quality parts.
