160 After a series of online leaks and the launch of the official website, the new fourth generation Suzuki Jimny was officially launched in Japan on 5 July. The new Suzuki Jimny is now available with full specifications and equipment, and the suggested prices for the Jimny model and the Jimny Sierra model start at 1,458,000 yen (about NT$403,000) and 1,760,400 yen (about NT$487,000) respectively. In the Japanese market, the new Suzuki Jimny is available in two models, the Jimny and the Jimny Sierra, the main difference being the width and sales positioning. It is powered by a new 0.66L turbocharged inline three-cylinder engine with 64ps and 9.8kgm of peak torque, and is paired with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual. The Jimny Sierra is closer to its overseas counterpart, with changes to the front and rear bumper and wheel arches, expanding the size of the car to 3550x1645x1730mm and a wheelbase of 2250mm. The car is powered by a more powerful 1.5L inline four-cylinder natural gasoline engine with a maximum power of 102ps and peak torque of 13.3kgm, and is also available with a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic transmission. Suzuki Japan says that even though the Jimny is a new model, it is still built in the spirit of previous generations, such as the continued use of a non-load-bearing trapezoidal chassis structure and the newly designed “X” reinforcement structure between the frames, which makes the car 1.5 times stronger than the old model. A new triple-link suspension system is used to improve ride comfort and handling.A new trapezoidal chassis structure with an “X” reinforcement between the frames has been designed to increase the strength of the bike by 1 …. In addition to the specially tuned 0.66L turbocharged inline three-cylinder engine, the Jimny Sierra’s 1.5L inline four-cylinder petrol engine has been completely redeveloped to suit the Jimny’s environment, offering light weight, small size, excellent fuel consumption and better power output. In the latest Japanese WLTC fuel consumption test, the average fuel consumption of the Jimny Sierra was 15.0km/L and 16.2km/L for the Jimny (both manual). The new Suzuki Jimny has in fact been completely redesigned from the inside out, including the power and body structure. The new Suzuki Jimny is not only a continuation of the hardcore off-road style of the previous model, but also offers more comfort for the driver. The Suzuki Jimny is expected to sell well in the future, following the current trend of off-road travel. For the Taiwanese market, the earliest we will be able to see the car is early next year. The new Suzuki Jimny continues the hard-core off-road look of the previous model, while offering more driving comfort.
